Your order
When you place an order we will email you to acknowledge it. That email does not mean we have accepted your order. Our contract with you starts when we email you to confirm that your order has been dispatched.
We may not accept an order if a book is out of stock, if we cannot deliver to your address, or if there is an error in the price or description. If that happens we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Printed books are currently zero-rated for VAT in the UK. Postage is added at the checkout and shown before you pay.
You can pay by [To confirm: payment methods, once the payment provider is set up]. Your payment details go directly to the payment provider and are never seen or stored by us.
If we find that a price on the website is wrong, we will contact you before dispatching your order to ask whether you want to go ahead at the correct price or cancel.
Delivery
We deliver to addresses in the UK and overseas. Postage rates and delivery details are on our Delivery & Returns page. We aim to dispatch orders within [To confirm: dispatch time, for example 2 working days].
Orders sent outside the UK may be charged import duties or taxes when they arrive. These are your responsibility.
If your order has not arrived within a reasonable time, please let us know and we will look into it.
Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer you can change your mind and cancel your order within 14 days of the day you receive it, without giving a reason. For a magazine subscription, the 14 days start from the day you receive the first issue.
To cancel, tell us by email at admin@scratchingshedpublishing.com, by phone, or by post to the address above, with your name, order number and the items you want to cancel. Then send the items back to us within 14 days of telling us. [To confirm: whether the customer pays return postage (the usual approach) or Scratching Shed does]
We will refund the price of the items and the standard postage you paid within 14 days of receiving them back, or of you showing us that you have sent them, using the same payment method. We may reduce the refund if the items have been damaged by handling them more than was needed to inspect them.
The right to cancel does not apply to a single issue of a newspaper, periodical or magazine, other than a subscription.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
If a book or magazine arrives damaged, is faulty or is not what you ordered, please contact us. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you can reject it for a full refund within 30 days of delivery, or ask us to replace it. We will pay the cost of returning it. This is in addition to your right to cancel.
Forty20 subscriptions
A postal subscription to Forty20 magazine is for 3 or 6 issues. It starts with the current issue unless you ask us otherwise, and postage within the UK is included. Overseas subscription prices are available on request.
[To confirm: whether the PayPal subscriptions renew automatically. If they do, add: your subscription renews at the end of each term at the price then shown, and you can cancel the renewal at any time in your PayPal account or by contacting us before the next payment is due.]
If an issue is late or does not arrive, please contact us and we will send a replacement or extend your subscription.
